The SGI inspection management system for the Xunta de Galicia's coastguard service handles infringement reports on fishing vessels and mussel rafts electronically and automatically.
The system supports manual inspection management when an inspector is on site checking a mussel raft or vessel, and it also accepts data from an aircraft that has flown a mission recording data on rafts or fishing vessels; in that case, image recognition algorithms identify the registration number of the vessel or raft.
Through its own rules engine, connected to the Xunta de Galicia's fishing platform (PTP), the system automatically detects irregularities in a vessel (for example, if it has no fishing permit for that area) or in a mussel raft (for example, if it exceeds the maximum number of ropes allowed).
